Bechuanaland Protectorate
Requisition
744/2 1937
The
first requisition for the new King. Each value of the set
was released over three dates. All the issue was to be
shipped in time to reach Port Elizabeth by 15th November
1937.
Requisition 881/1 1938
An
urgently required requisition to reach Port Elizabeth by
15.11.38.
This
consisted of the 1/2d, 1d, 2d and 3d values.
Requisition 1054/1 1940/41
The
notes recorded that this issue was to reach Port Elizabeth
by 31.12.39
Requisition 1089/1 1941
Two
values, the 1/2d and 11/2d constituted this order. Each
value was despatched on 30th September followed by the
remainder on 24th October.
Requisition 1101/1 1942
The
only requisition and stamp, the 1/-, printed that year It
was noted that interleaving was not required.
Requisition 1119/1 and 1119/2 1943
As
with the 1089/1 requisition 1119/1 was for a reprint of the
1/2d and 11/2d. And, as before, there were two despatch
dates, 18th January and 22nd January. These stamps were
very urgently required and were not to be interleaved with
wax. The 11/2d had priority and was to be delivered in
advance.
Following
on from this Part 2 of the order was a reprint of all the
other values. They were required for dealers and delivered
to A2 on 27th August 1943. Although the entry seems to show
that the whole printing went into the Bureau, some 10%
would have been sent to the territory. No date of despatch
was given.
Requisition 1146/2 1943
This was
the reprnt of two values, the 2d and 6d. Again there were
two despatch dates, 6th and 12th of October. However if we
look at the notes for the 1944 Requisition 1194/2 it may be
assumed that most of this printing went into the Bureau's
stocks.
Requisition
1163/1 1943
A
reprint of the 1/- despatched on 25th November and 6
December. Interleaving was not required.
Requisition 1194/2 1944
Just one
stamp, the 2d despatched on two dates, 11th and 24th
August. The former was the balance of the Bureau's stocks
of previous printing posted 27th October 1944. Logically
this release would be the stamps from the previous 1943
(1146/2) printing. The words of 'previous printing'
indicates that the general rule, whereunder CA exchanged
new stocks for old, may not have been followed here.
Requisition 1254/1 1945
Major
Criddle poses a question about this requisition. He states
that the notes say that A2's stocks were 49,000
(3.9.45).
"In
the light of the 1163 Requisition notes how did A2 have
this quantity? They must have retained an unspecified
quantity of 1146/2 until 27th October
1944."
Interleaving
was not required.
