1947
This is the special Leeward
Islands presentation folder which was given to
the delegates of the 1947 Universal Postal Union Congress
which was held in Paris. All of the Crown Colonies were
represented, and each delegate was given a folder identical
to this which contained the current stamps of that colony,
minus the top value, affixed to the folder. As each
colony had to supply the stamps for the folders, it was
agreed that the highest value of the set was omitted, thus
saving considerable expense, but as each delegate went home
with a personal C.C. stamp collection, from the delegates
point of view, it was money well spent!!!
The label inside translates "With the compliments of the
Secretary for the Colonies on the occasion of the 12th
Universal Postal Congress, Paris 1947."
